“I convinced my parents to turn our house into a Magical Christmas Dubstep Light Show”
Every year, my family tries to do something special with out Christmas lights. We’ll usually go to Target, Costco, WalMart, and other Christmas specialty popup stores to find the most innovative lighting and lawn sculptures that can make our house the most unique Christmas display in our subdivision. In recent years, I felt like my father had been ‘falling off his game.’ I took matters into my own hands.
I turned our house into a magical dubstep Christmas light show, to the tune of “First Of The Year (Equinox)” by Skrillex. At first, my parents wondered if we could use a different song, like something off Michael Buble’s Christmas album. Then I told him, ‘It’s what the kids are listening to, dad. It’s the dubsteps.’
Totally Amazing

Japanese artist Iori Tomita transforms the scientific technique of preserving and dying organisms into an art form with this series entitled New World Transparent Specimens. The images give us an breathtaking look at the inner workings of underwater life.
The process Tomita goes through is extremely extensive. First, he removes the scales and skin that have been preserved in formaldehyde. He then soaks the creatures in a stain that dyes the cartilage blue. Tomita uses a digestive enzyme called trypsin, along with a host of other chemicals, to break down the proteins and muscles, halting the process just at the moment they become transparent. The bones are stained with red dye, and the specimen is preserved in a jar of glycerin. From start to finish, the entire production takes about five months to a year.
Listening to a mix in my car, my sister said to me “So much dubstep sounds so alike.” I don’t know where she was going with that, but it particularly frustrated me. I didn’t know why until I recalled my friend Mat saying “ALL dubstep is transformers having angry sex, to me.” He was trying to be funny and all it did was piss me off. It wasn’t funny the first time I heard that, and it won’t be funny the next time I hear it.
Let’s face it. Most people don’t appreciate dubstep for the eargasm rapesauce that it is. But that’s because they don’t understand it.
My friends, you must treat dubstep as you would treat a wine. Examine it’s color, viscosity, embrace it’s fragrance, and finally, it’s taste. Only in grading each of these will you ever know it’s true flavor.
Just like the scent of a fine red wine, fine dubstep has several distinct flavors.
